Amazon Studios have opted not to develop pilot project Zombieland into a full-blown television series after the show racked up negative online reviews from viewers. Zombieland, based on the movie of the same name, got more than 5,500 reviews averaging 3.5 stars on Amazon, while there were over 1,200 1- and 2-star reviews, reports Reuters.
However, Amazon will develop Garry Trudeau’s Alpha House into a full series, with the Doonesbury cartoonist acting as co-executive producer. Amazon also picked up Betas, a comedy about Silicon Valley tech startups.
Earlier this year, Amazon produced 14 TV pilots and put them online for free viewing with the aim of crowdsourcing comment from audiences – as well as collecting user data – to decide which shows to turn into television series.
