tongalCrowdsourcing outfit Tongal is rolling out a music division to develop partnerships with record labels to produce music videos, as well as manage rights and licensing issues. The new unit will be headed by former Capitol Records A&R head Dennis Wolfe, now Tongal’s vp of music content and partnerships.

Tongal’s music division will also launch community-driven music campaigns as a component of future video and film projects to expand the volume and diversity of Tongal’s network of creatives and to develop new opportunities in music for members.

“We are changing the way creative work gets done – we started with advertising and are now expanding into other categories, with music being a top priority,” says James DeJulio, chief product officer at Tongal.

Tongal earlier this year snagged $15 million of finance from Insight Venture Partners to fund the build-out of its global creative community.
